Biography
Zajac, 29, is playing on an AHL contract with the Hershey Bears. His second season on a Hershey deal, the forward had a career year in 2016-17 with South Carolina, scoring 52 points on 13 goals and 39 assists in 59 games. Zajac also spent parts of three seasons with the AHL's Albany Devils from 2012-15, including scoring a 44-point campaign during 2013-14 with 12 goals and 32 assists in 67 games. Zajac skated in 14 games with Manitoba Moose of the AHL during the 2015-16 season, notching one assist. Zajac has totaled 69 points (21 goals, 48 assists) in 131 AHL games.
The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, also appeared in 15 ECHL games with the Trenton Titans during the 2012-13 season, scoring 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 15 games.
Zajac played his NCAA hockey at Union College, scoring 128 points (37 goals, 91 assists) in 159 games over four seasons. He helped Union to an ECAC regular season championship in 2011-12, and was an ECAC Third Team member that year, and an ECAC Second Team member in 2010-11.
The forward comes from a hockey family. His father Tom played collegiate hockey at the University of Denver. He also has three brothers who play hockey, including Travis, 32, who plays for the New Jersey Devils. Older brother Darcy, 31, plays overseas, while younger brother Nolan, 24, is in his second pro season now with the ECHL's Reading Royals.
