Biography
Danton Heinen was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 4th round (#116) of the 2014 NHL draft. He played two years in the BCHL before joining the University of Denver from 2014-2016. Heinen helped lead the Pioneers to two NCAA tournament appearances including a Frozen Four appearance in 2016. He was named to NCHC All-Rookie Team, NCHC Second All-Star Team, NCHC Rookie of the Year in 2015 and the NCHC First All-Star Team in 2016. After the conclusion of his sophomore season, Heinen joined the P-Bruins for two games, making his pro debut on April 16 against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and recording his first pro points (two assists) on April 17th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. His first pro goal came November 11, 2016 when he accomplished the feat against the Hartford Wolf Pack. He made his NHL debut on October 17, 2016 against Winnipeg and earned his second NHL recall December 10. After a strong first half with the P-Bruins, Heinen was named to the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic roster and recorded two assists in the tournament. Finished fifth overall and second among rookies on the P-Bruins in scoring for the 2016-17 season.
