Biography

2016-17: Signed by the Washington Capitals on Jul. 1, 2016… Posted AHL career highs in goals (24), assists (25), points (49) and multi-point games (13)… Was tied for 1st in goals on Hershey (24) and led the team in power play goals (12); His 12 man advantage markers were also tied for 5th in the league… Racked up 12 points (7G-5A) in 11 games during the month of November. 

2015-16: Spent time with four teams during the season, two AHL and two NHL… Posted his first NHL assist on Dec. 1, 2015 vs. Columbus… Was traded by Montréal to the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 15, 2015 for forward Lucas Lessio)… Played one game for Arizona on Jan. 26, 2016 at Winnipeg. 

2014-15: Had a career-best 6-game point streak (3G-3A) spanning from Oct. 26 – Nov. 7… Scored his first NHL goal as a member of the Montréal Canadiens on Feb. 12, 2015 vs. Edmonton. 

2013-14: Traded from the Rangers to the Canadiens on July 2, 2013 in exchange for Danny Kristo… Had 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points in 55 games playing in his first season with the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL)… Tied for the club lead with 3 game-winning goals and registered a career high in shots (155)… Played 2 games with the Montréal Canadiens. 

2012-13: Scored 19 goals and 16 assists in his first full pro season with Connecticut (AHL)… Finished the season 3rd in goals (19) and 4th in power play goals (5) on the Whale… Took 148 shots on the season, 3rd-most on the team… Made his NHL debut for the New York Rangers on Feb. 23, 2013 at Montréal. 

Other: Made his pro debut for the Connecticut Whale (AHL) on Apr. 7, 2012 at W-B/Scranton… Recorded his first pro goal and assist in the same game vs. Manchester on Apr. 13, 2012… In his 4 year OHL career had 137 goals 120 assists and 257 points…Led the Oshawa Generals (OHL) in goals and points for 3-consecutive seasons from 2009 – 2012… Father, Steve Thomas, had a 20-year pro career playing for the NY Islanders, Toronto, Chicago, New Jersey, Anaheim and Detroit.
