Biography

2016-17: Led WBS with 121 penalty minutes… Played in his 300th AHL game on Dec. 14, 2016 at Hartford; Had a multi-point game (1G-1A) for his first AHL points of the season that same night… Tied a career-highs with 2 goals and 3 points (2G-1A) in one game on Jan. 6, 2017 vs. Hershey; that same night, Sestito had the first “legitimate” Gordie Howe Hat Trick of his career (see 2008-09 season)… Eclipsed 1000 career penalty minutes in the AHL on Jan. 6, 2017 vs. Hershey… Posted back-to-back multi-point games on Jan. 6 and 7, the first time since Nov. 24 and 25, 2011… Had another 3-point game (1G-2A) on Jan. 18, once again against Hershey… 

2015-16: Recorded his first point and goal of the season against Bridgeport in Oct. 18, 2015… Tallied his first assist of the year on Nov. 21, 2015… Multi-point game (1G-1A) on Jan. 23, 2016 at Portland was his first since Feb. 5, 2013 with Philadelphia (NHL), his first in the AHL since Jan. 14, 2012 as a member of the Adirondack Phantoms… Made his Pittsburgh Penguins debut on Mar. 6 vs. New Jersey. 

2014-15: Played only 13 games total in an injury-shortened season… Recorded 1 assist and 1 fight in 3 games with Vancouver… Recorded 1 goal and 2 fights in 10 games with Utica… Posted his only goal of the season on Jan. 30, 2015 vs. Toronto. 

2013-14: Played his 1st full NHL season without any reassignment to a minor league, posting career highs with 5 goals, 4 assists, and 9 points in 77 games… 212 PIM led the NHL. 

2012-13: Started the lockout-shortened season with the Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League (United Kingdom)… Scored his only 2 goals for the Flyers in his 1st career 2-goal game in the NHL on Feb. 5, 2013 vs. Tampa Bay… Made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut on May 5 at San Jose. 

2011-12: Racked up 83 PIM in 14 NHL games with Philadelphia… Made his Philadelphia debut on Dec. 19, 2011 at Colorado… Netted 3 multi-point AHL games, coming on Oct. 16, 2011 (2G-0A), Nov. 24 (2G-0A), and Jan. 14, 2012 (0G-2A). 

2010-11: Set AHL career highs with 11 goals, 21 assists, 32 points in 46 games with Springfield… Scored his first career NHL goal on Dec. 15, 2010 at Vancouver… Set a career-best 3-game point streak from Dec. 21 – Dec. 26… Played 9 games with Columbus, totaling 4 points (2G-2A). 

2009-10: Played in 3 NHL games with Columbus and 36 games with Syracuse; Earned 145 PIM in 39 combined games… Went on a 3-game goal streak spanning Oct. 16 – Oct. 23, 2009. 

2008-09: Spent the full season in Syracuse, Columbus’ AHL affiliate… Recorded a Gordie Howe Hat Trick that comes with an asterisk on Oct. 11, 2008 vs. Rochester; Sestito had 1 goal, 2 assists, and was given a 10 minute major for Fighting Off the Playing Surface after the game had expired… The game on Oct. 11 vs. Rochester was also his first 3-point game… Earned points in back-to-back games 4 different times during the season. 

2007-08: In his first pro season, Sestito posted 7 goals and 16 assists for 23 points and 202 PIM… Recorded his first pro point with an assist in his AHL debut on Oct. 5, 2007 at Rochester… Had his 1st multi-point game with 2 assists at Albany on Jan. 4, 2008… Made his NHL debut in Columbus’ last game of the season on Apr. 6 vs. St. Louis, getting in his first NHL fight and racking up 17 PIM in the game. 

OTHER: Won an OHL Championship with Plymouth in 2007… Finished the 2007 Memorial Cup tied for the tournament lead in points with 7 (2G-5A)… Scored 88 points (53G-35A) in 153 Ontario Hockey League games.
